Painting Table

While I do not think I will get much done before the end of the year, but my painting table is ambitious. Should make for an interesting January 2017.

I have here Sea Lion Home Guard, Polish tanks, Imperial Skies ships, and tanks for 1944. Yes there is alot, but it still all falls into the three areas I have mentioned for 2017.

Paint Table Saturday

My latest additions to the German Army are a mixed lot for the 12th and 21st Divisions around Caen. I have been trying out at least five versions of German Dark Yellow (Dunkelgelb). While I have had mixed results I am pleased with the over all.

This force includes:

Panzer IVG
2 Panthers
Sd Kfz 250/1
Sd Kfz 250/10

Marder
2 of Sd Kfz P107
Sd Kfz 135/1 150

5 infantry as crew

This is a mix of German originals and French conversions. These will be used next week in a battle west of Caen using Chain of Command rules.

Paint Table

While I am working on finishing up some tanks an order from Shapeways came in. Now the Italian have an additional 12 CR.42s. Not sure how I am going to base or paint them.

Off To A Good Start

Well my painting is off to a good start this year. I have 72 WWI infantry and 6 cavalry painted with 10 tanks started and 11 aircraft done and waiting on decals.

While the poor weather allows me to catch up on my painting the British have yet moved north of Fao.

End of the Big Push

As 2014 comes to an end I am trying to clean up the painting table. Here is a look at the table and what is left. Still have two battalions for ITLSU, eleven 1/600 aircraft for 1940 and a mix of miscellaneous small projects.

As part of the Big Push, I completed six figures for the Command stands for my Arab troops for TOOFATLardies ITLSU.

Big Push

Like all Big Pushes, this one is running out of steam. I have an Arab and British battalion that I am trying to finish up this year but they may come out after the New Year. Also working on some French and Italian aircraft for 1940.

But I have finished up two Battalions of Arab infantry based and ready to take on the British in Mesopotamia.

Big Push

Over the last three weeks with the holidays coming up I have been slowing down on my Big Push Project. That said over the last two and a half weeks I have finished up two buildings, five tanks and a truck.

Before the end of the year I will be working on eleven 1940 French and Italian aircraft and two battalions of WWI Middle Eastern troops.

The Push Continues

The Big Push is on. As of last night I have completed the TOOFATLardies blinds, twenty15mm figures, telegraph pools and two buildings. I have another 20 or so figures to strip and repaint, fifty or so figures to prime and nine tanks that I am assembling. Mental note on the last, need to pick you glue. I also has a dozen or so aircraft to finish detailing but at 1/1250 scale not sure how to do Soviet red stars.

The buildings have been the most interesting. They are paper mache and I plan on using them with the rest of my Aqaba buildings. While I am not a fan of my abilities of cutting and building paper structures paper mache is something I can work with.

Close Up. It looks like I have to touch up the tree trunks.
I will be on the look out for roof clutter.

Paint Table Saturday - The Big Push

I will be sans computer tomorrow so here is my Paint Table Saturday.

This week I finished 16 Arab towns folk and 4 Ottoman WWI artillerymen along side sixteen signposts and telegraph poles.

Easiest way to show this is with a simple town scene.

On the bench now are four M-51s, a Whippet, two A7Vs and two Mark IVs. I am please with the size in comparison with my existing WWI tanks. My current M-51s may be sold soon.

Paint Table Saturday - The Big Push

With the year coming to an end I am trying to clean up a few projects and at the same time clear off the painting and gaming table. I want to end 2014 the same way I began on the Vis Lardica website, with a bang. As you can see in this picture I have my work cut out for myself.

While I have new World War I tanks to work on (as well as four Ishermans) I will work on the projects that are needed and or quick. This means Turkish troops for Fao, aircraft for the North Atlantic Harpoon scenarios and blinds for my TOOFATLardy’s games.

After that I have a battalion of British for the Middle East and East Africa, the tanks that I just got and what ever else is on the table that needs to be taken care of. I look to be very busy.

Paint Table Saturday

It has been too long since my last Paint Table Post. That is because I have not been doing a lot of painting.

The Table - Not a lot of action.

Village of Fao.

The Battlefield slowly coming together.
A Pontoon Bridge that will be useful for this campaign. I may need to change out the pontoons.

Painting Table

My paint table is finally opening up as the last of the summer and fall plants have left the basement and not a moment to soon.

Modern warships are coming together for two submarine games I will be running in October. While both are historical one is a little shaky as it involves the ARA Salta in its attack on the British.

For World War I have British naval infantry, early war cavalry and Ottomans for the Mesopotamia Campaign.

A little farther back, the Dark Ages, I have Picts and Normans in the queue. Image is from Splintered Light's website. The Normans are for their campaign in southern Italy a conflict I was unaware of. With luck there will be new rules from TOOFATLardies latter this year.

I have also been looking at the Lardies rules for naval combat in the Age of Nelson called Kiss Me Hardy (love Richard’s titles). That means I will be looking at some 1/2400 scale ships. I will probably start out with a handful of ships from Tumbling Dice. Thank you Chris for the article in the Lardy on setting up a campaign. Love those 6th rates and sloops.

Paint Table XI

I have been away from the table for too long. Finished up some row boats for 1914, and testing out the colors for the Naval Infantry. I also have new additions from MY Miniatures in 1/3000 scale for 1920s.

For the 1914 project I am finding 28th of June approaching way too fast. Than again I have more time to plan than our ancestors had.

Paint Table TEN

Been away so my painting has been on a back burner.

I have two buildings I will be using for 1914 Nery.
Also completed are 5 1/2400 scale pre-dreadnoughts; 3 British Cressy-class cruiser, the German SMS Elsass and the Russian battleship Slava.

Paint Table Tet

Something must be wrong, why is there so little on Jon's painting table? Could he be up to something?

I have been busy getting ready for a game of IABSM for Operation Market Garden. No pictures as I do not want to give too much intelligence to the opposition (Mark and son).

Finished up a small fleet worth of warships for the US, German and Spanish navies. Not sure how to use the flying deck cruiser but is it way to cool to ignore.

So what is going on?

Paint Table VIII

I did not realize that I have not posted since last week’s table. I am glad to report that the Imperial German Navy is soon to be adding four Gazelle class light cruisers as well as thirteen Spanish warships and six Americans based and primed to the national fleets.

I also completed fourteen German troops making up six machine gun teams.

Once the warships are done I will be able to run not only the Battle of Manila Bay as well as cruiser actions in the North Sea. The German machine gun teams will be seeing action in Poland 1939 soon using Chain of Command.

Paint Table Saturday Seven

Has been a good week here for miniatures and gaming.
I hope to get a few more ships ready for a new set of naval rules

Here is the table. It is getting a bit more organized.

And we have a few dead colonials and a Kübelwagen for my early war Germans.

Painting Table VI

Here is my table and as it is after Cold Wars I am trying to finish up few projects. The Germans are now ready for the Battle of Coronel and the tanks are almost done. I have added the new WTJ miniatures to the queue along with two new buildings I picked up at Cold Wars that are suitable for The Great War (Nery) or World War II.

I am concerned that I may have a problem with my recent ship builds. So far this year I have completed 81 ships. That puts the 2014 fleet between the Republic of Korea Navy at 80 ships and the Turkish Navy at 91. Do you think I have a problem?

Paint Table Saturday Cinco

Just back from Cold Wars and I am more excited than ever about my gaming and miniatures. So far this year I have painted each day at least a little. That is 65 out of 68 days.

Here is my Saturday Paint Table entry.

The only days I missed were because of gaming working in four games. Yet the reason for my excitement does not have to do with painting or my miniatures. It has to do with getting together with gamer with similar interests and exchanging ideas. While I plod along with my 1902 writing and game design I have also set up for latter this year of naval games both modern and World War I.

All good things.

Painting Table Cinco

Here is a view of my table. Right now I have German infantry and tanks on hold due to the lack of two colors. That will be corrected next week at Cold Wars. I have three British cruisers getting ready to complete and a dozen or so Poles for support for the 10th Brigade and the ever-present F.2B. So far since January 1st I have painted everyday but one.

As for my blogs, I am pleased with the interaction with the readers although I want to keep on my writing. I have 18 unique posts for February and add to the 20 from January 2014 the blogs are going strong. I also have five blogs/articles in different states of compilation most of which are hardcore history that I hope you enjoy.

Let me know what you think or what interests you.
