Winter of Our Discontent

It is snowing outside, I am waiting on figures and buildings, it is to cold to prime figures to paint outside, and I am waiting on paint to start the only three tanks I have primed. Winter does not seem to be a happy time for this gamer.

Next summer I will have to build a painting booth so I can prime all year long.

Is this common for the rest of the gamers out there?

  1. Not Knowing your living conditions, (i.e. apt, house etc...) I can only make minor recommendations.
I live in an apt., and use my spray box in the laundry room. I use short burst, so as not to get asphyxiated.
If you have a house with a garage, set up a space
heater in the corner next to the booth and leave your paint and minis nearby to warm up. Once again use short bursts and paint away.
However I always wait for warm weather to clear coat.

  2. It is a balmy 17 degrees outside, at about 1.45am, with a gentle breeze wafting through my window, after a day where the temperature reached around 26 degrees (centigrade that is - I won't do the conversion), cooled by a few intermittent showers. All in all, a beautiful summer's day in the harbour town of Sydney, Australia.

What is this "snow" of which you speak?

Joking aside, I can't imagine being unable to work on my figures because it's too cold. My sympathies go out to you.

    Cheers

  5. I've doing a bit of primering in my garage as War Minister described. I'd like to add a tip though. Before using your spray paint, take a container and put some warm water in it and set your rattle can in it for 5-10 min. Using a can that has been sitting out in the cold garage would be a bad idea.
