Michelin Guide Anyone Revisted

At the beginning of my blog Google Earth and a map from a local travel store was all I had to work with. Now that I am working on a list of battle for both our 15mm forces but also the 3mm forces I need to get, I am finding place names a hard thing to work with. My map is in French, Google Earth is in an English/Arabic form and most of my books have virtually no maps.

So all of the battle sites will potentially have multiple names. And those that I am not sure of will have geographic notes. (i.e. Western Bekaa Valley also spelled Beqaa Valley). This is going to be fun.

  1. Reminds me of an old SNL comedy bit they ran during SNL Newsbreak "How do you spell Kadaffi?" they started by running all the phonetic spellings used by various news outlets and then it just got downright silly.

  2. One idea that I have yet to try yet is to contact the Israeli embassy. They may be able to provide you with some maps.

  3. Been working on that, but they are slow. Also I have not started my Hebrew classes and all of the Israeli maps I have are, surprise, in Hebrew.
